Is it safe to take vitamin C supplements when pregnant?

I am 30 wks pg. I keep getting every cold that is going around. Just wondered is it possible to take vit c to boost my immune system a lil bit

Is it safe to take vitamin C supplements when pregnant?
I took 500 mg. daily when I was pregnant and my doctor approved of it.
Reply:vitamin C is safe

I used to take it when I was pregnant no side reaction
Reply:You'll need at least 85 mg of vitamin C daily during pregnancy — about what you'd expect to get if you drink a small glass of orange juice. That goes up to 120 mg when you're breastfeeding. But if in doubt talk to your GP
Reply:only if you want a baby thats round and with orange skin .
Reply:Ck w/your baby doctor. Don't guess or take chances.
Reply:Vitamin C is water soluble, so most excess washes out of your system. If you get a LOT of excess vitamin C you can get your body's OH out of whack and you could get a yeast infection or something like that. I would avoid taking more than 3 or 4 times the RDA.
Reply:vitamin c is fine. you have to constantly take it though, because everytime you pee it is washed out of your system, it is recommended that you take it 3 times daily.
Reply:Check with your doctor. If you're not already on a Prenatal vitamin, you may benefit from starting one.
Reply:consult your OB before taking any type of supplement while pregnant
Reply:Just drink a lot of OJ.
Reply:only one way to find out
Reply:I think it would be ok, but a better option is drinking alot of orange juice. OJ is high in vit.C and folic-acid, which is very good for baby.
Reply:i think if u r that far along you must have a doctor. why guess at it with someone that is not professional. call or see your doctor!!!!
Reply:Just to give the pat answer first: talk to your OB, blah, blah, blah.
