Echineaca and Vitiman C Tablets ?
Recent studies show that echinacea does not actually do anything for your immune system.

To boost your immune system you need to get plenty of rest, eat a healthy diet and avoid bad habits like heavy drinking and smoking.

To boost it immediately you need Immune Alert -- an immune booster that is proved to be effective. It is made from a yeast extract (beta glucan) that has hundreds of studies showing it really works. My family takes it and loves it. Best part is that it starts working in your system in 24 hours.

Go to www.immunealert.com and get a free trial now!!!
Reply:The answer is nutritional immunology. Broccoli and other Brassica vegetables in large quantities (several large salad bowls a day) or supplements that contain the active ingredient in a bioavailable format can help significantly.

Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley have recently discovered that a compound in Brassica vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.) called Diindolylmethane is a potent activator of the immune system with potent anti-cancer, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties.

Clinical studies on Echinacea have shown that it has no effect on the immune system and no anti-viral activity. DIM on the other hand, does have potent anti-viral activity. Vitamin C is helpful at 1000mgs a day, but don't go over that as it may cause dehydration.

DIM is currently used to treat RRP tumors caused by the Human Papilloma Virus and the compound is in Phase III clinical trials for Cervical Dysplasia--a precancerous condition also caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. Until recently, DIM's mode of action was not clearly understood until the scientists at Berkeley discovered its underlying mode of action which now puts its anti-viral activity against the Human Papilloma Virus into perspective.

As immune modulation does not discriminate in the type of virus that it combats, this compound can also be very helpful for the common cold, both as a preventive supplement and as a therapeutic. The common cold is a viral infection.

Reply:I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse and you really should have gone to the health store. Boots products are not of a very good quality and wont help you very much. Go to the health store and get garlic capsules they come in 2 strengths, if you are ill take 1000mg otherwise take the smaller mgs.You have to be careful when buying

vitamins such vit C etc because you may be getting enough in your diet and you could overdose. You need a lot of sunshine as well. Eat plenty of citrus fruits and dairy products

Echinacea should be taken for short periods only

Reply:Find out from your doc why your immune system is compromised. Get plenty of rest, eat balanced meals and live moderately. Don't drink, smoke or do anything that will compromise your health. There is not a magic bullet to fix this. If you take any kind of chemical contraceptives, STOP! These are known to weaken your immune system.

Two Types of Immune Deficiencies

Primary

There are two types of immune deficiencies according to Dr. William R. Clark. One is a “primary immune deficiency” which is genetic in origin and occurs in about 1 out of 10,000 people.

We would expect to see in the area of 400 new cases each year in the United States. As these disorders tend to manifest during the first few years of life, this is an area that falls within the province of pediatricians who are trained to detect such problems.

Secondary or Acquired

The other type of immune deficiency is called a “secondary” or “acquired immune deficiency”. “These are not the result of inherited genetic abnormalities, but arise secondary to some other disease process, or after exposure to drugs or chemicals that are toxic to the immune system. These are by far the majority of immune deficiencies seen clinically.” Dr. William Clark

On this basis as a preliminary do the on line hormone tests at www.hormoneprofile.com or www.johnleemd.com

On www.hormoneprofile.com there are pages that explain the functions of the hormones.

If as I suspect they recommend you obtain hormones please have a saliva test done see www.npis.info or www.salivatest.com.

A saliva test will check out active hormones something that blood tests do not.

If a hormone is suggested by the saliva test please take the dose suggested for you. Size 10 shoes are not twice as good if you have size 5 feet.

http://www.abc2health.com/prog-saliva-no...

The WHO (World Health Organisation) uses saliva tests.

Search the web for "natural progesterone immune" and you will find many pages read and carefully select.

See www.hormoneprofile.com for how hormones work the books are better but it is a good place to start

There is a list of doctors at www.npis.info who are aware of the benefits of natural progesterone they may be more helpful than your GP. You are about to educate your GP :-)

Natural progesterone means natural to humans i.e. identical to that produced by the human body.

Any progesterone you buy must be natural progesterone USP. USP means United States Pharmacopoeia. Wild yam is that wild Yam the body will not convert it to progesterone

See www.npis.info for more information regarding obtaining progesterone in the UK

Do not take fake progesterone/progestins manufactured by the drug companies they will be of NO benefit.

John Lee's book recommend vitamin level's etc if necessary in conjuction with balancing your hormone levels. This can take 3 months but it is the correct thing to do for your body

Hope this helps
Reply:I am sorry to tell you that recent studies showed that Echineaca does not really work at all. As to vitamin C it never hurts to take it but many people take all kinds of herbal medication. I would suggest you go see a doctor (real doctor) who also practices alternative medicine and get some advice.
Reply:zinc is supposed to be good - just remember that vitamin supplements should not be a substitute for a good diet (much as I wish they were!). Try to boost your intake of fresh fruit and veg, and protein as this is where the real nutrients will lie! vitamins will help as a top up, but they certainly won't solve the problem on their own. getting a bit of exercise will also help to improve your general health.

it may take a couple of weeks before you start to feel better.

i had a bacterial lung infection for 3 months (mid december to mid march) and no matter how many pills i took, nothing was working - i've had an overhaul of my diet and begun exercising, and when the last deadly bug went round the office, I managed to escape it!
